Here at Reel Time Photo Booths we love the promises that engagements hold. There is something so special about being in love and sharing that love with those around you, that it makes us as almost as excited about your nuptials as you are. What better way to capture all the excitement than renting one of our photobooths to put a picture to your emotions.

We’ve been to a few engagement parties with our photo booths recently and thought you would like to know a bit about the etiquette that applies when planning and hosting your party.

Traditionally engagement parties were given under the pretence of a normal party and during the course of the evening the bride’s dad would announce the engagement as a surprise to those present. The giving of gifts in these circumstances were not expected as the guests were not aware of the engagement.

These days however, with social media being what it is, the news of the engagement is on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Periscope, Blab and which ever other platform there is, before the bride-to-be can say, “This is my fiancé.” Should you decide to surprise your guests with the news, then make sure to capture their surprise at the photo booth that are blending into the party theme. Our open photobooths have state of the art software and you are able to share the snaps on Facebook or even email it to yourself. We love being part of surprises!

In the past the bride’s parents would host an engagement party. If you are a stickler for doing things the traditional way, then give them the opportunity to host it. It remains a special occasion and is reason to celebrate. They could choose a formal setting for the party or go small and intimate in their back yard.

Of course, an engagement party should have toasts. If the bride’s parents are hosting the party, her dad should begin by proposing a toast to the bride and her husband-to-be. The bridegroom in making then toasts his fiancé and her parents and then his own parents. If the party is hosted by friends then anyone can make a toast at any time. It is also a good idea for the engaged couple to toast the host.

When you hire one of our photo booths for your engagement party we will fit it right in to the vibe that you would like to create. Our backdrops will become the blank canvas of the first chapter in a new journey of your life. A little bit of advice from us, from the words of our own Michael Leunig, ‘Love one another and you will be happy. It’s as simple and as difficult as that.’
